It has been a long time since I’ve given you a free niche idea for a website. This one is a good one. There are a million supplemental terms and related phrases that you can capitalize on.

There are plenty of advertisers for the term “copper sinks”, and you won’t run out of potential links to buy. Most of the top SERPS are dominated by companies who have had websites for a long time, but have very little on page optimization, or incoming links.

A picture gallery would go a long ways towards getting you links from related pages and a blog detailing new fashions and trendy sinks would be perfect, even if they’re not copper sinks.

Even though the search volume for your targeted phrase is low, you can still make good money with a very high CPC and a lot of secondary terms such as:

Free Niche Idea #5 – Acrylic Aquarium

Although the world of pets and pet products is dominated by a few big companies including PetCo and Drs. Foster and Smith, you can still find a niche and fill it well. One of those niches is acrylic aquariums. Acrylic is a substitute for glass in aquarium building. It scratches easier than glass, but doesn’t break or leak as easily. Most very large (250 gallon +) tanks are built using acrylic instead of glass because acrylic and take a higher pressure without flexing (bowing) and breaking. These reason make acrylic aquariums ideal for people buying a large tank without budgetary concerns. Acrylic can be built from 1/4″ thick to over 1″ thick depending on the needs. Glass aquariums built that think get VERY heavy, quickly.

This niche has a lot of long tail keywords including company brands, new, used, painting, removing scratches, etc. I would imagine a great site for acrylic aquariums would have a lot of pictures of different types of acrylic aquariums because people want to see sizes, shapes, dimensions, and they want to see if they can tell the difference between glass. Since acrylic and aquarium are both easily misspelled words, you want to include common misspellings like aqrilyc, acrylick, acuarium, and akuarium.

While the CPC is low, the long tail keywords make this a great build it and forget it site. It may never make you rich, but it can be a steady $20/day site with decent traffic.

Another Way to Find a Niche

Boy have I been busy. A week of training for me, two weeks of training others. Two servers that need to be setup and configured after that, and it won’t stop for another month or so.

Ok, on to niche finding. Another great and easy way to find a niche, and sometimes a profitable micro-niche is with eBay Pulse. eBay Pulse is a section of eBay that shows what people are searching for on a daily basis. The great thing about Pulse is that you can narrow down your search into specific industries. Personally I don’t want a website about a Wii, iPhone, or Xbox 360, and those are the top 3 searches across eBay.

Here is what I found by navigating to a smaller category:

eBay Pulse > Business & Industrial > Office, Printing & Shipping > Trade Show Displays

One of the searches listed in this section was “abex”. I had no idea what “abex” was so I Googled it. Abex is a trade show display creation company, and they have some very expensive setups.

So their keywords would be “trade show displays”. That is a pretty small niche, but you are targeting people with money.

They top related keyphrase is “pop up displays” and the CPC is $55.11. Crazy.

Free Niche Idea #4 – Network Monitoring Tool

Monitoring a network has never been easier than it is today, primarily because of the creation of more and more tools. These tools allow network administrators to optimize LANs and WANs, fix issues, detect problems, etc. Now, these tools can make you some money.

This small niche has a high payout and a lot of long-tail keywords. If you like writing reviews, this is the niche for you. Many of the keywords are product focused but could still be written without a review format. Since this is a technological field, you also have a chance of hitting it big and getting on the Digg front page.

Here are the vitals for “Network Monitoring Tool”

Keywords: Network Monitoring Tool
Competition: 293,000
Price per click: Adwords: $10.69
Search Volume: Overture: 704/month

A few of the long tail keywords could be network management tool, network security tool, network diagnostic tool, network marketing tool, network monitor tool, admin network security system tool.

I don’t know of any affiliate programs for companies that sell network monitoring tools, so Adsense will be your top earner right now. You may find an affiliate, and you will probably be one of the only affiliates in the area.

I would suggest that this niche website be created apart from any other site and not as a subdomain. It is pretty specific and would benefit from it’s own branding. Network administrators will hopefully bookmark your site and pass it around to other network and IT administrators.

Lease Color Copiers – Free Niche Idea #3

Here is another really good small niche idea. Copiers have been around for the last 20 years. Leasing copiers has been around too. With technology making great gains in the color copier markets, more people are looking into leasing color copiers. The benefits are cost of ownership and cost of maintenance. Most of the time when you lease a color copier, the copier will have a maintenance agreement that covers repairs (sometimes even toner).

This niche website idea could be run from a current website devoted to office supplies, copiers, printers, or other office-type websites. If you don’t have a website about a business office, register a new domain.

Keywords: Lease Color Copiers
Competition: 250 to 955 (extrememly low)
Price per click: Adwords: $17.70
Search Volume: Overture: less than 200/month

Some other great keywords are “off lease copier”, “0ff-lease copiers”, “color copier lease”, “color copiers for lease”, etc.

I don’t know of any companies that have affiliate programs that allow you to lease copiers, but there are plenty of Adsense advertisers that are sure to be there for a long time. You probably won’t get many .edu links, but you could get a few .gov links. A few good articles would gather a lot of links. Try writing an articles titled, “Should You Buy or Lease a Color Copier?” and “Leasing Color Copiers Can Save $3,000 Per Year!”

Get out there and buy Lease-Color-Copiers.com and start building this niche website!

Rent Audio Books – Free Niche Idea #2

This free niche idea is a definite money maker. The main reason I believe that is because the competiton is downright weak. This site, full of only affiliate links about the keywords, “rent audio books” and “rent books on tape” is ranked #5!

As I said before, I would register a new domain (always use a domain, don’t use a free blog from blogger), and that should be your only cost unless you buy some links. Shouldn’t be too necessary though.

Keywords: Rent Audio Books and/or Rent Books on Tape
Competition: 29,500 and 3,250 (very low)
Price per click: Adwords: $3.50+
Search Volume: Overture: about 200/month

The search volume on this keyword set is very low currently, but it matches the competition. Low competition should mean low search volume. However, this one is set to rise sharply and quickly.

The audio book industry is going to be experiencing a major surge in the coming years. iPod’s and other mp3 players are getting very popular and everyone can afford one (less than $50) so buying one to just listen to books is completely understandable.

Companies like Playaway are set to take the market by storm.Â The school I work at has bought 3 of them and is looking to buy 10 a month over the next year.Â Multiply that by many schools in many districts. You’ll have many parents, teachers and librarians searching for the ability to rent audio books. This doesn’t include the people who commute an hour one way that want to rent books on tape and be able to listen all the way to work.

For a great list of companies that have affiliate programs look at the site above and find out where most of their affiliates are coming from…most look like CJ.com links to me. The site listed above is a PR 2 and was registered in August of 2004. You’ll have a hard time overcoming that age, but with a huge lack of links, they are setting themselves up for being overtaken.

You should be able to, with a very informative site, become the expert in this area and get a lot of .edu and a few .gov sites to link to you. This will help you become even more established as the expert. I would write some articles, submit them, then cite on your page that you have articles written on a variety of topics.

Keywords: Used Copy Machines
Competition: only 16,400!
Price per click: Adwords: $5.00+
Search Volume: Overture: 441/month

The search volume is a little low on “Used Copy Machines”, but so is the competition. The cost per click is excellent and should turn into approximately $.50-70 per click through Adsense (my guess)

There are also plenty of used copiers on eBay, so if you can build up some traffic you can also apply to Commission Junction (CJ.com still does eBay right?) and use their affiliate program to send some traffic to eBay.

In the beginning I would advertise 100% with Adsense then try eBay to see if the cost per click is paying out for this niche. This might even be an opportunity to do some keyword arbitrage. If you’ve never done arbitrage or don’t know what it is, don’t worry, I’ll explain in a later post.
